Pediatric Dentistry of Temple - C. Brent Boyd DDS FAQ

Do you have a question about pediatric dentistry? Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!
  • Will I stay with my child during the visit?

Parents are always welcome to come back with their children. Our only exception is when a very extensive or invasive case requires the use of general anesthesia with our anesthesiologist, which of course, would be discussed in much greater detail if that would ever be necessary for your child. These cases are treated similarly, as they would be at an out-patient surgery center type of facility.

  • Our office policy regarding dental insurance

If we have received all of your information on the day of the appointment, we will be happy to file your claim for you. You must be familiar with your insurance benefits, as we will collect from you the estimated amount that insurance is not expected to pay.

Please understand that we file dental insurance as a courtesy to our patients. We do not have a contact with your insurance company, only you do. Benefits are not determined by our office. We are not responsible for how your insurance company handles its claims or for what benefits they pay on a claim.

Insurance companies set their own schedules, and each company uses a different set of fees they consider allowable. The insurance company arbitrarily chooses a level they call the allowable UCF Fee. These allowable fees may vary widely. Your insurance company's fees may be different from our office fees. We will provide a written estimate of your out of pocket expenses for services that exceed your estimates insurance coverage. We will outline your estimated portion due for each treatment appointment.

Insurance companies will not release the exact amount they will pay for a procedure until the treatment is completed and the claim is submitted.

They will only state the percentage of their fee schedule that they will cover.

We will make every effort to assure you will receive maximum benefits. We will file your insurance claim at no charge. In order to provide this service, it is important to keep us informed of any insurance changes such as policy name, insurance company address or a change of employment.

  • Sedation dentistry / Dental anxiety

Dental sedation is a technique that can be used when a patient suffers from dental anxiety or dental phobia. We are happy to offer a number of solutions for our patients to make their dental visit as comfortable as possible. Sedation dentistry techniques enable patients who might otherwise avoid the dentist, to receive dental treatment necessary for a healthy smile. Depending on the extent of the anxiety or phobia, the amount of treatment needed to be done, varying degrees of dental sedation can be utilized.

  • What about finances?

Every effort will be made to provide a treatment plan which fits your timetable and budget and gives your child the best possible care. We accept cash, personal checks, debit cards and all major credit cards. Payment for professional services is due at the time dental treatment is provided. To discuss your payment options or insurance coverage, please call (254) 284-1000.
